 <title>Submission handling for a journal - project idea</title>
 <link>http://www.ossrc.org.in/node/52</link>
 <description>Most of the recognised journals follow a systematic procedure for handling papers and articles submitted for publication. For a paper, we need to know the title, the authors, their affiliation, the corresponding author, date of submission, current status, etc. Submitted papers must be acknowledged, and then proper referees have to be identified. This is normally based on a referee list which includes their areas of expertise, papers last assigned, etc.
&lt;p&gt;
A paper normally goes to about 3-5 referees depending on the editorial policy. Referees send in their comments in a prescribed format, indicating their recommendation to accept/reject/revise the paper. Combining these comments for a paper, the editor finally decides on the paper. The decision and the comments are to be communicated to the authors. If a revision is required, this must be followed up, and recognised as a revision.

 <title>About the STTP at K J Somaiyya College of Engg.</title>
 <link>http://www.ossrc.org.in/node/41</link>
 <description>Recently we were in K J Sommaiyya college of engineering for the Short Term Training Programme on open source software. Yogesh and myself condunted a session on Drupal.Then yogesh talked about Blender and Kino and gave some demonstrations on these two tools.
Prior to this in the morning session, Archana had a session on Moodle-A learning management system and Sasi sir, talked about OSSRC in general and Open Source in e-learning, in particular.
This was a nice experience, less some participants of the STTP really not interested in all the stuff. But many responded well and have shown interest in OSSRC, too. Some people also suggested us to publish some newsletter or something like that. We were given momentos in the end and thanked by the programme co-ordinator. All in all, a good expericence.
